The  Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging is a member of the school’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Office. This full-time, 12-month administrator position comes with the responsibility of working with students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni in partnership with the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in support of the School’s mission, vision, values, and curricular goals. 

Responsibilities

 

The Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (ADDEIB) should be prepared to work in partnership with the Director of DEIB (DDEIB), administrators, faculty and staff, students, families, alumni, and Parents’ Association (PA) leadership. They will:

  • Support the Director of DEIB with The School’s strategic diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work.
  • Collaborate with the departmental team to design and deliver a wide range of DEIB programming.
  • Review and co-create policies and practices that deliver equity and foster inclusivity for all members of the community.
  • Oversee  Upper Division DEIB Learning and affinity and alliance group programming - serve as liaison to affinity group facilitators and/or DEIB-focused clubs as interests and needs require.
  • Partner with the DDEIB to oversee Lower Division DEIB Learning and affinity and alliance group programming.
  • Partner with the DDEIB to provide coaching/consultation for curricular and emerging needs.
  • In partnership with the DDEIB, creates and co-facilitates DEIB-focused professional development.
  • Support community engagement - with a special focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Participate in and contribute to an adult learning community by engaging in meetings, discussions, committees, task forces, and professional development.
  • Ensure that respect for diversity, equity,  inclusion, belonging, social emotional learning & wellness, and academic excellence are emphasized as core values of the School.
  • Attend and chaperone student registrants for DEIB-related conferences and workshops.
  • Work with the Director of DEIB to identify prospective DEIB speakers, presenters, and performers.
  •  Partner with the DDEIB, to meet with prospective candidates interviewing for open positions.
  • Complete administrative tasks and coverage duties as assigned.
  • Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential Expectations.
 

Qualifications

 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years working with students in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Curricular coaching and consultation experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEIB in teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and community building skill set working with a broad spectrum of learners to build DEIB competency in all constituencies — students, faculty, staff, trustees, and parents/guardians.
  • Demonstrated participation in DEIB-related professional development.
  • Experience supporting DEIB-related programs, committees, clubs, and events.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and proven organizational/time management skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effectively interpreting, navigating, mediating, and resolving conflict.
  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing learning opportunities, workshops, and presentations for students and adults.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to think and work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Maintain focus and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adjust priorities to meet emerging needs. 
  • Requires occasional evening and weekend work and active engagement in the life of the School community.
 

Physical Requirements: 

  • The ability to sit and stand uninterrupted for 30 minute periods of time.
  • The ability to regularly walk on and travel across variable surfaces (e.g. level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt, etc.).
  • The ability to lead, supervise and accompany students to all areas of the school campus (including all indoor and outdoor areas), including during day-to-day responsibilities and in case of emergency. 
  • The ability to consistently operate a computer. 
  • Proficient in Google tools and other applications as adopted by the School, such as Veracross, SchoolPass, Atlas, etc. 
  • The ability to regularly stand, sit, crouch, and kneel down in order to support students. 
  • The ability to work outdoors, year-round, in variable weather conditions.
  • The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead. 
  • The ability to occasionally transport (e.g., move or drag) 25 lbs. 
  • The ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic and, at times, loud environment.

  • The compensation range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000 annually. Actual salaries will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to, external market data, internal equity, skillset, experience, and/or performance, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive compensation details, inclusive any additional benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
